Q: What does the name "URIZEN" mean?
A: The name "Urizen" comes from the writing of English poet/artist William Blake. In Blake's writing, Urizen represents all things coherent and reasonable, such as law and science. Conversely, of course, this also means that Urizen exists as a void of all things creative, expressive, and artistic. We, being the eternal smartasses that we are, thought it fitting, as a band of musicians and artists, to adopt the URIZEN moniker and use it in the exact opposite way it was intended.
It might also have something to do with pee, I'm not really sure...
Q: How do you pronounce "URIZEN"?
A: URIZEN is pronounced "YER-is-in" with the emphasis on the first syllable (rhymes with 'denizen'). The Blake version of Urizen is pronounced "yer-EE-zen" (as in, "your reason")with an emphasis on the second syllable, which is also acceptable.
Q: How do you mispronounce "URIZEN"?
A: By saying, "yer-EYE-zen".
Q: How long has URIZEN been together?
A: The roots of URIZEN were planted back in 2000, when Thomas and Daniel formed a black metal band called "Dunwich Horror". However, URIZEN in its true form came to fruition with the addition of Julio in 2002.
